The Davis farm was built in 1892 and had a market house along the creek. The family were 'cordwainers', leather shoemakers. Shoes, forms and tools can be found throughout. The family also had a syrup mill and syrup cooking pan. Neighbors would participate in an all day syrup making operation, crafting liquid sugar for the year. You can see the 1913 cane press in operation and tour the farmhouse this fall, at our first sorghum festival.
